SF III and the Farewell...

On the third day in San Francisco we arose to meet the sunset again. It was nothing like the morning before but still a beautiful sight and I got some good 35mm shots of the bay. We didn't feel like conversing with the Rainbow Runner's so we headed toward a beach north of where we were to take get ready for the day. Note: Showers on the beach are most likely not heated. It woke us up and we checked out the beach while we were there. On our way back into town we stopped at a coffee shop to update the blog and get some breakfast. Cofeeshops are the the place to go to on the road. Wifi, food, drinks, unlimited lounging time. Lovely places. :) After a short stint in downtown we packed up and headed for the GGB crossing.
The crossing of the Golden Gate Bridge was somewhat anti-climatic as I had anticipated but still pretty swell. I was filming most of the crossing while my road-hand handled the steering wheel. We crossed the bridge and headed north up the coast. We caught Highway-1 West and headed for the coastal drive. Beautiful rolling hills dotted with wine vineyards. Small coastal towns passed by as we drove along the winding rocky coast. We stopped just before sunset at this hidden trail and flipped a coin on whether or not to climb it. Heads we do, tails we don't. Fate chose heads and handed us an amazing view of the ocean. Deer, eagles, waterfall, mossy thick woods were all sights on the hike. Coin flips are great if you can't make a quick decision... And most of the time it reveals your true desire.
We hiked back down to the van and continued on the windy highway in the dark. We entered Mendicino County (wink, wink...) and kept a close eye on the road for a place to sleep. Town after town with no luck until Sheldon spotted a dirt road turnoff that led to a very pleasant and scenic viewpoint of the ocean. It was a great place for the night. Listening to the waves crash against the cliffside beneath us was tantalizing. And we slept.*

Headed to eat some Ravioli.
