I think there is something in the water here in Elko. Alot of the people seem to be numbed out, almost like a droned state. Not very many smiles. More stares than anything. Foreigners, sheesh...
So, yesterday we succesfully made it from Fairview to Elko. I saw the Great Salt Lake for the first time. It's gigantic! And no we didn't "swim", rather float, in it. We just passed by. Then came the Salt Flats. It was pouring rain and with a wind warning of 45+mph the going was rough to say the least. I passed this advertising sign trucks, the driving billboard ones, and during the pass it about threw the Astro in a whirlwhind off the road. The water spray from the tires didn't help either. It was like Super-Soaker's ultimate-turbo-Astro destroyer was full blast on our windshield (hopefully Grandpa doesn't read this).
Our original stopping point for the day was Wendover. We stopped in the "town", had a bite to eat, strolled the casino, and had all we could handle. Packed back up, filled up with gas, was approached by a beggar, and then took off for Elko. About two hours and a snowstorm later, yes I said snowstorm, we pulled into Elko. It was late, dark and cold (no snow yet) while we searched for a place to sleep. Our sleeping spot came at a very quaint and noisy casino. My brother's paranoia had my ears perked up the whole night waiting for us to be towed away. Immature babies...

Mr. Cowboy say's
"Don't stop in Wendover."
And now, we're heading out for San Francisco. We'll be there in time for sunset. Sheldon will be wearing flowers in his hair.
